Cold Laser Therapy at Champion Chiropractic

Dr Todd using laser therapy on patientCold laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive service that can often be effective for people suffering with inflammatory conditions. It uses specific frequencies of red and near-infrared light that stimulate healing at a cellular level.

Champion Chiropractic offers a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment to help our patients achieve their highest health goals. Our Class IV medical-grade laser is part of our comprehensive approach to care.

How It Works

We use a handheld device to direct the light waves into the affected area. These waves pass through the skin and are absorbed by the cells of the injured or damaged tissues, where they trigger a reaction within the mitochondria. This reaction produces energy at the cellular level, stimulating blood flow, oxygenation and healing of the tissues.

Cold lasers, such as the one we use, do not produce heat and do not damage the cells in any way. The therapy is painless, and most people don’t feel anything at all. Some may notice some warmth in the area being worked on—this is caused by the increased blood flow to the region.

Who It Helps

We incorporate this service into our spinal decompression protocol, as it helps heal the inflammation associated with disc injuries. This can also be an ideal approach for any type of inflammation, such as tennis/golfer’s elbow, plantar fasciitis, or tendonitis, bursitis or any other itis condition (“itis” means inflammation).

Laser therapy is also especially useful for our patients with metal or electrical implants who can’t receive PEMF therapy.

What to Expect

Dr. Todd Moore will begin with a thorough examination and X-rays to diagnose the underlying cause of your symptoms. If he believes this therapy can help, he’ll recommend it as part of your custom care plan.

When you receive laser therapy, you’ll sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a table, and our trained technician will direct the light into your area of pain for approximately 12 minutes. Some patients experience reduced pain and inflammation after just one session, but full healing generally requires a series of sessions.
